What FlightTrove is — and is not

FlightTrove is a consumer aircraft-spotting service. It helps you discover nearby aircraft, decide what may be worth looking up for, confirm a real-world Spot yourself and build a personal collection.

It is not an aviation-safety, navigation, air-traffic-control, emergency, surveillance or professional operations service. Never use FlightTrove for flight operations, safety-critical decisions or access to restricted areas.

Accounts and age

FlightTrove is intended for users aged 16 or older. You are responsible for keeping your account and sign-in methods secure, for information you submit and for activity carried out through your account.

Plus purchase is restricted to users who are at least 18. Before FlightTrove hands a new Plus purchase to Google Play, you must explicitly confirm that you are at least 18. FlightTrove does not collect your date of birth for this purpose.

Do not share authentication tokens, attempt to take over another account or impersonate another person.

What counts as a Spot

A Spot records your own manual confirmation that you physically observed an aircraft. Nearby data, predictions or alerts do not create a Spot automatically and do not guarantee that an aircraft can be seen.

Observe only from a safe and permitted place. Do not trespass, enter restricted, airport, military or private areas, interfere with aviation activity, or use a phone while driving.

Location-based features and nearby-alert continuity

Current-location Radar, recommendations and immediate alerts can use a fresh device location. Precise location permission is optional overall, but these location-dependent features may not work fully without it.

If nearby-alert continuity is enabled, FlightTrove may temporarily continue using your last accepted location for nearby alerts. This is not route tracking, is not proof that you remain there and can never authorize a physical Spot. You can turn the feature off, and the temporary area expires automatically.

Saved alert locations are separate durable watch targets that you explicitly choose. They also do not establish current presence and cannot be used as Spot evidence. Notification and expiry-reminder delivery depends on device, network and provider conditions and is not guaranteed.

Aircraft data can be delayed or unavailable

Aircraft positions, identities, routes, classifications, visibility guidance, rankings, predictions and alerts can be delayed, incomplete, unavailable or wrong. Weather, provider coverage and data quality change, so FlightTrove cannot guarantee that a predicted or ranked aircraft will appear or be visible.

We may maintain, correct, rate-limit, temporarily suspend or withdraw a feature when reasonably necessary for safety, security, provider or licensing constraints, legal requirements or reliable operation.

Use FlightTrove responsibly

You must use FlightTrove lawfully and responsibly. You must not:

• stalk, harass, identify owners or passengers, infer personal itineraries, or conduct personal or military intelligence gathering;
• interfere with aviation activity or attempt to reconstruct information intentionally suppressed for safety, security or privacy;
• scrape, enumerate, bulk-export, redistribute restricted data, bypass limits or security controls, or overload the service;
• submit unlawful, harmful, misleading or rights-infringing notes or other content, or use the service for an unlawful purpose;
• reverse engineer or misuse authentication, billing, entitlement, location-authority or device-security controls.

Free and Plus

FlightTrove provides Free and Plus capabilities. Free includes the core manual spotting and collection loop. Plus may provide additional capacity, proactive alerts, predictive discovery and other enhanced features. A paid tier never changes the evidence required to confirm a physical Spot.

The current feature set and limits shown in the app are authoritative for the product version you use. A feature described as beta, preview or temporarily unavailable is not promised until it is enabled in the product.

Plus, trial periods and automatic renewal

Plus is offered through Google Play as monthly and annual auto-renewing subscription plans when those plans are enabled. The authoritative local price, billing period and offer eligibility are displayed by Google Play before you purchase.

Where Google Play shows you as eligible for the reviewed FlightTrove trial offer, the trial lasts 14 days. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the selected monthly or annual paid plan starts automatically after the trial and then renews for the same billing period until cancelled. If Google Play does not show the trial for your account, no free trial applies and the recurring price shown by Google Play applies.

Plus is activated after Google Play successfully verifies the purchase. Before handoff to Google Play, you explicitly request immediate activation after verification, including during any applicable statutory withdrawal period.

Cancelling Plus, refunds and withdrawal rights

You can cancel renewal through Google Play subscription management. Cancellation normally stops future renewal; entitlement may remain available until the end of the period already provided by Google Play. Deleting the FlightTrove account does not cancel the Google Play subscription.

FlightTrove does not offer an additional voluntary refund policy beyond the refund mechanisms made available by Google Play and rights required by applicable law. This does not limit any mandatory refund, withdrawal, price-reduction, termination or other consumer remedy.

EEA consumers may have statutory withdrawal rights for distance contracts, subject to the rules and exceptions that apply to the relevant digital service. A request for immediate performance can affect those rights only to the extent permitted by law and only where the legally required conditions are satisfied. Cancelling a trial or renewal in Google Play is operationally separate from exercising a statutory withdrawal right.

Updates and your consumer rights

Where mandatory consumer law applies, FlightTrove will provide the digital service and necessary updates in accordance with those obligations. If the service fails to conform to mandatory legal requirements, the remedies provided by applicable law remain available.

Security, compatibility, provider, legal or product updates may change how a feature works. We will not use these Terms to remove mandatory consumer rights. Material contractual changes are versioned and, where required, require renewed acceptance.

If a paid service changes materially

FlightTrove may modify a continuous digital service for valid reasons such as security, compatibility, provider or licensing changes, legal requirements, technical reliability, abuse prevention or sustainable operation of the product. We will not impose an additional charge solely because of such a modification.

If a modification negatively impacts access to or use of the paid digital service in more than a minor way, and the applicable law provides that right, we will inform affected consumers clearly and reasonably in advance on a durable medium about the features and timing of the modification and the right to terminate. Under the EEA rules reflected by these Terms, that termination right is free of charge and may be exercised within 30 days from receipt of the information or from the modification, whichever is later, unless we enable the consumer to keep the unmodified service without additional cost and it remains in conformity. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Provider outages and events outside our control

FlightTrove depends on aircraft-data providers, hosting and network infrastructure, Google/Firebase and Google Play, mapping services and other suppliers. Provider outages, lost coverage or licences, serious security incidents, natural disasters, public-authority action, major network failures or other events reasonably outside our control can temporarily degrade or interrupt features.

We take reasonable operational steps for the situation. That can include switching to an approved fallback provider, disabling an unreliable feature, entering maintenance mode, freezing new Plus sales or communicating an incident. We do not invent aircraft data to hide an upstream outage.

A short incident does not by itself create a voluntary refund promise. If a prolonged outage or loss of functionality means a paid service no longer meets mandatory legal requirements, any mandatory repair, price reduction, termination, refund or other remedy remains available.

Personal notes and other content

FlightTrove V1 allows an optional private personal note on a Spot. It does not provide user photo upload for Spots. You retain rights you have in text you submit, but you grant FlightTrove the limited right needed to store, display back to you, synchronize and process that content to provide the service.

Do not submit sensitive information about other people, unlawful content or material you do not have the right to use.

Badges, challenges and community partners

Badges are product achievements based on FlightTrove's authoritative spotting history, challenge progress or an explicit manual award. A badge can exist without a sponsor, and sponsorship never changes the evidence required to earn or confirm a Spot.

Challenges may be time-limited and may include a clearly disclosed aviation community partner or sponsor. Sponsored placements are labelled in the app and on relevant FlightTrove pages. A sponsor receives only aggregate campaign totals and never receives a participant list, user-level profile, location, Favorites, Spot records or personal notes.

A sponsor cannot control Radar data, aircraft visibility, Best Next/opportunity ordering, alert eligibility or priority, collection correctness, entitlement, account status or any safety-related product behaviour. FlightTrove may pause, complete, archive, correct or withdraw a challenge or partner placement to protect users, legal compliance and product integrity.

FlightTrove content and third-party data

FlightTrove software, brand, presentation and original content are protected by applicable rights. Aircraft-data providers, OpenStreetMap and other third-party sources retain their respective rights and licences.

These Terms do not grant a right to copy the FlightTrove service, brand, databases or restricted provider data, or to redistribute third-party data contrary to its licence.

Suspension, account closure and deletion

We may proportionately rate-limit, suspend or terminate access for abuse, security threats, unlawful conduct, provider/licensing restrictions or material breach. Where practicable and legally appropriate, we will use measures proportionate to the issue.

You may stop using FlightTrove and permanently delete the account through the in-app flow or public Delete account page. Account deletion removes account-owned product data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Account deletion and Google Play subscription cancellation are separate actions. An active subscription does not prevent account deletion, and deleting the account does not itself create a refund.

If FlightTrove is discontinued

If we plan to discontinue FlightTrove permanently, we first stop offering new Plus purchases and then use the available Google Play controls to prevent future renewals. Where reasonably practical and legally possible, affected users receive advance notice appropriate to the circumstances.

If paid features can remain available and conforming through an already-paid period, Plus may continue until that period ends. If we cannot provide the paid service for all or part of a prepaid period, we apply the remedies required by law, which may include a proportionate refund for the period not provided. Depending on the case, Google Play cancellation, refund or revocation mechanisms may be used.

An urgent legal, security or extraordinary event may require immediate restriction or shutdown and can make advance notice impossible. Mandatory consumer rights and remedies still apply.

Before final infrastructure shutdown, where feasible, we keep account deletion, support and any legally required data-access or portability route available for a reasonable operational window. Personal data and billing/legal evidence are then deleted, anonymised or retained according to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Safety, availability and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, FlightTrove is provided without a contractual guarantee of uninterrupted availability, aircraft visibility, provider coverage or aviation-grade accuracy.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, warranty, conformity obligations, remedies or other consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Law, complaints and contact

The governing law and jurisdiction are stated on the Legal information page without depriving consumers of mandatory protections or forums available under applicable law.

Mandatory out-of-court complaint or dispute-resolution information, where applicable to the operator and market, will be provided through the Legal/Support pages.

These Terms are versioned. Material changes are published with a new effective date and renewed acceptance is requested where required.
